The ‘HMS Sargasso’ was mine clearing duties when she hit a mine thought to have been dropped by aircraft. She sank quickly. 21 of her 25 crew survived.

The wreck is broken amidships. Her stern section is upright complete with her twin bronze propellers, while her bow section lists over to port.
