Travelling from Swansea for Poole the ‘Leny’ struck a mine probably laid by German aircraft. The explosion killing 8 of the 10 crew stood at the aft of the coaster.

The wreck lies very close to or on top of the ‘Ferncliffe’. She lies mostly buried in the mud and not sitting more than 1-2m high.
