The ‘Indutiomare’ was travelling from Newport of Le Havre with a cargo of coal when she was torpedoed by the mine laying U-boat UC-61. The sinking was witnessed by the steamer ‘Nosted’. 22 of the 25 crew safely made it to the boats.

The wreck now lays listing to port in an area of shifting sands. The boiler is almost buried in the sand. The triple expansion engine is the highest part of the wreck.
