The ‘Evertsen’ sank due to a collision with the Dutch MV ‘Favoriet’ in thick fog.

The wreck is quite broken up and most of the wreck only stands two or three metres high. The stern and central area is upright. Much of the upper hull has rotted away. The engine lies on the port side seabed. The rudder lies on its side on the port side. Close to the main wreck and possibly attached to it is a very large piece of upturned hull.
